We’ve been bombarded by the media for the past months on the rise and success of ISIS / ISIL in the Middle East, as they move through Iraq, Syria and beyond carving out their own version of a future and in doing so editing the past. Their violence is not reserved simply to people, but also to our collective humanity. The destruction of the supposed Tomb of Noah, was only the first and most publicized aggressions that we all witnessed, much as in disgust and horror as we watching the Taliban destroy the Buddhas in Afghanistan. Thankfully CNN did a very nice piece on the issues that is worthwhile for all of us to read – the illegal trade in ancient artifacts and their destruction that helps to finance their efforts.
