While the idea of Air BnB frightens us with the threat of what unknown results, who knows what you’re going to get and who is going to be there, stories abound of questionable encounters that would make anyone cringe. Private vacation rentals, on the other hand are a whole different story. We’ve rented in Miami, The Florida Keys and Newport Beach with great results. However going one further, we’ve been keeping our eyes out for architecturally significant homes for vacation rentals. If you’re going to rent a house, why not make it something a little special, cultural, maybe even exciting.
The idea and process of searching out specifically these types of homes, is probably not on everyone’s radar, the process of renting is filling a utilitarian need – ie. “need roof over head” – the thought process does not typically go to – “must be nice interesting, inspiring roof”.
We’ve been doing a little digging around and you can actually find some very interesting listings on VRBO and other sites – in particular we’ve been eyeballing a couple of Frank Lloyd Wright homes (which may not be in typical vacation areas) and then moved over to the greater Palm Desert / Palm Springs area.
