Possibly one of the all time best homes to come on the market in New York City these past few years (and this is purely personal opinion of the editors here) is the Mellon mansion at 125 East 70th Street, between Park and Lex. Formerly the home of Paul and Bunny Mellon, it was built in 1965 as a French Chateau (more or less). Eight bedrooms, eight baths, grotto, massive garden (by NYC standards), wine cellar, outdoor dining terrace. It’s beauty. The home has been listed by Sotheby’s since it came on the market. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Jim Clark, that we know of, considering the history of the home it would have been nicer to have more colorful character in residence.
