For some reason I was discussing Karl Lagerfeld with a friend the other day, it was under the context of him creating a “brand” for himself that would be recognizable. We all know what the “image” or “Personal Brand” of Karl Lagerfeld is – black suit, white shirt, big glass, thin, German, white hair. Aloof, seemingly unapproachable. My friend, Daniel nodded his head in obvious understanding and then out of the blue suggested that he wanted a Karl Lagerfeld teddy bear and that would be his “shtick”, carry the Lagerfeld bear. With a quick google search it turns out that there is… was a Lagerfeld Teddy Bear, made by Steiff, retailing for about $2,000 and sold in a very limited number by Neiman Marcus. Sadly for Daniel the bear is unavailable, our giddy glee in having discovered the bear only serves to us to plea that it should be brought back in to production and sale.
