Our quest for the perfect blue suit might be done at long last, well, sort of. As of late, the past few months we’ve been spending a fair amount of time going through the Paul Stuart catalog from the past Spring, Summer, Fall, et cetera. Clearly we have a modest love affair with the brand. Sometime in the past few weeks it seems they have mostly cleared out their 2016 collections and are now starting to post their 2017 collections. Low and behold as we did a quick look through the latest offerings, from the glare of our computer screen popped out in a beautifully bold blue, of just the right shade, mens suit – it even sported the appropriate dog whistle phrase “French Blue”. Could it be, is this at long last the ultimate blue suit that we have been searching high and low for? At first glance, yes. A rich, warm, dark bodied cerulean blue, with a very thin stitched possibly off white pinstripe. The jacket is a two button, three pocket with peaked lapel. Super 150s wool. Holy crap, we have a serious contender. This might be the one. Seriously. We had almost come to settle on some of the other Paul Stuart blues, they were very good, but they weren’t quite perfect.
So, while we gush over this latest find from Paul Stuart, lets finally cut to the one caveat that might not make it “The One’, namely, the price, at $4,200 lets be honest, this one’s more or less priced just about all of us out, but then again, if it is indeed The Ultimate Blue suit, then we must ask ourselves all the same question, is it worth it?
